After I moved to LA, my younger sister came to visit me in my first apartment. I missed having my family around so her visit was a real treat. She was still in college studying art (she now teaches college art history) and we spent a wonderful day at The Getty. The painting reminds me of the two of us; I'm the bold sister and she is the more timid one.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12019450793013285292noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8678838153767744099.post-5959730013336662472008-01-14T15:10:00.000-05:002008-01-14T15:10:00.000-05:00I do take my grandchildren to museums -and at time...I do take my grandchildren to museums -and at times they have found their own cherished items. Whew! Blogger can be a pain in the tush and one can never find an actual human being over there to contact with a question.

As I gazed at the vase yesterday I wondered how many of the other people crowding around the vitrine had some visceral connection to it, or had they just read the article in the NY Times and figured it was the must-see event of the weekend.

Another thing I noticed was that there were no young people (under 30) with their noses pressed to the glass, and that saddened me even more.

I was taught as a very young child to appreciate art. It's never NOT been an important part of my life. Is it the exception rather than the rule nowadays for parents and grandparents to bring their children to museums -- I mean when their sentient enough to appreciate what they're looking at, not when they're sound asleep inside a Snugly.Leslie Carrollhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12240911659194990447noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8678838153767744099.post-42652730035734628402008-01-14T11:03:00.000-05:002008-01-14T11:03:00.000-05:00This is the umpteenth time I have tried to leave y...This is the umpteenth time I have tried to leave you a message...the system doesn't like me.
